LittleThings {Pretty Little Ponies}

"Hush-a-bye don't you cry,
Go to sleep-y, little baby.
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little ponies.
Blacks and Bays, Dapples and Grays,
All the pretty little ponies..."

Another tradition. The 'let's negotiate a story and a song before bed' tradition.
Kids, they're crafty like that.

The girl does love her ponies though. And I'm good with that.

Little Things {Tradition}

If I really think hard about, there are some traditions in our family that have been around since forever.
Like how we all clap and count out the Birthday girl or boy's age after they blow out the candles on their cake for instance.
And Sunday night dinners, which started the first Sunday after my Pop died. Originally to make sure Yaya was ok, and then just because.
The funny thing about family traditions though, is that you rarely plan them - they just happen. And they keep on happening, until for some reason they have their own little permanent reservation in your world.
We have a new tradition in our family (eleven weeks new to be precise) But it wasn't until today that I even realised it existed.
Eleven weeks ago, my cousin gave birth to an adorable little boy, Patrick. Yaya's eleventh Great-Grandchild. We all had lunch at Yaya's that Friday.
Six weeks later, and six lunch dates later, Violet Kate made her long awaited arrival.
Fast forward.
Yaya went on holidays last Saturday. And today, I woke up and realised that Friday's aren't just Friday's anymore, they are 'Lunch at Yaya's'.
We all met here for lunch today. But in two more weeks, it will be back to our 'new' normal.
Lunch at Yaya's.

Little Things {Rainy Day}

They do say 'when it rain's, it pours'. And pour it has. Two days and nights of solid, heavy rain.
Meaning inside play. Which to my kids is the equivalent of a day without coffee for me. Unthinkable.
Unless of course you happen to discover a beauty salon magically appeared in the corner of your lounge room. And when you're two and a half and your mission in life is to sneak as much of your Mum's make up as quietly possible on a daily basis... it's bliss.
As I'd hoped, she loved it. As I'd never expected though, so did he.
We took turns being the beautician and the customers... We had fun.

Little Things {Beautiful Eyes}

This week's challenge over at 'I Heart Faces' is 'beautiful eyes'. And this girl has already worked out just how to use them with her Daddy!!

Little Things {Farewell to Winter}

As pretty as they are, it's always nice to see the last few blossoms fall from Yaya's weeping Apricot.
Spring is surely on it's way!!

Little Things {My Little Girl}

I had convinced myself she was a tom boy. She is tougher than most of Mace's friends, loves to eat dirt, rides the motorbike just as well as she rides the horse, and loves any and all ball sports.
But. She also loves tutu's. She loves jewellery. And she busts out ballerina like dance moves many, many times during the day.
This morning I was blow-drying my hair, and she asked me to do hers. And of course I said yes. I love doing all those 'little girl' things together. We paint each others toenails, brush each others hair, and play 'make up' and 'Mummies and babies'. We read books about princesses, go out for babyccino's and over accessorise for simple trips down the street.
She's my little girl, and no matter how grown up she looks with her blow-dried hair, she always will be - my little girl.

Her all time favourite movie for the last six months is 'Flicka'. A story about a horse with a name that means 'pretty girl'. Perfect fit really. No matter how many times she watches it though, and regardless of the fact that I almost know it word for word - it still manages to bring tears to my eyes when I hear Tim McGraw's words.

Your beautiful baby from the outside in
                                    Chase your dreams but always know the road
That'll lead you home again
Go on, take on this whole world
But to me you know you'll always be,
My little girl

Love you to the moon and back my little Flicka x

Little Things {Violet Kate}

Ten days old, and already it feels like she has been a part of the family for always.
Maybe it's because she has already held a place in our hearts for the past nine months, or maybe because her Mum and Dad are such natural parents. Whatever the reason, she belongs.

We are all full of hopes, dreams, plans and predictions for this little one. But no matter where life takes her, in the end she will always have love x
